Chopin Nocturne in B-flat Minor, Op. 9 No. 1 — Larghetto Classical Chillout: Chopin

gb5cn1505010This beautiful composition is part of Chopin’s immersive nocturnal classical piano chillout music performed by Anton Kingsbury. This piece was the first of Chopin’s works to be published in France, Germany and England. This nocturne was composed in part in Vienna and completed in Paris. This reflective work immediately confirms the character of the nocturne. The irregularity of the rhythmic patterns is a distinctive feature of Chopin’s style of ornamentation that continues to find varied expression in all his nocturnal works. This piece is dedicated to Marie Pleyel, the wife of publisher and virtuoso pianist Camille Pleyel.

Frederic Chopin was a French composer of Polish descent and virtuoso pianist of the Romantic era, who wrote primarily for the solo piano. He gained and has maintained renown worldwide as one of the leading musicians of his era, whose poetic genius was based on a professional technique that was without equal in his generation. Chopin was born in what was then the Duchy of Warsaw, and grew up in Warsaw, which after 1815 became part of Congress Poland. A child prodigy, he completed his musical education and composed many of his works in Warsaw before leaving Poland at the age of 20, less than a month before the outbreak of the November 1830 Uprising.
